Description

Ficus carica 'Chicago Hardy' is fig tree which produced edible fruit.  Foliage is wonderfully large and textured. A long summer season is required for fruit to ripen and some winter protection may be necessary even in-ground. Cool location indoors may provide a restful winter home before returning outdoors when grown in a pot. This variety is self-fertile, meaning only one is needed to product fruit. Growing multiple plants will, however, increase the yield of production.

  • Light: full sun
  • Soil: well drained, fertile garden soil
  • Harvest July - October
  • Height: 15 - 30 x 15 - 30'
  • Zones: 5 - 10
